Clueless Film Review
"Clueless" is a teen comedy, standing out for its bold costumes and hilarious pop culture references of the time. Even now, 50 years later, these references and the dialogue is still found to be laugh evoking to a teenage/young adult audience. This film could also serve a sense of nostalgia to those who had lived through their teen years whilst originally watching it during the 90s. The film contains an American high school setting, coming of age themes, female friendships and more. It almost serves as an overexerted version of things that seem important to girls in high school (e.g. popularity). "Clueless" follows the protagonist of Cher, the most popular girl in her high school, along with her friends journey in school. Eventually her popularity is overtaken by a friend of hers but in the end both friends understand the value of friendship over popularity. There's also multiple side stories containing romantic relationships, her father and more. This film allows its audience to escape from reality and for a moment live in a the glamorous and iconic world of "Clueless". The legacy of the film continues to influence popular culture even now: fashion/ dialogue. Filled with social satires and heartfelt life lessons, "Clueless" continues to remain a teen comedy favourite to many. "Clueless" has many key elements to it which aid to grappling onto the audiences attention like its iconic sense of fashion, witty dialogue, strong and young female protagonists along with it being a clever modern adaptation of Jane Austen's "Emma". Overall, "Clueless" is an amazing movie for all of its many components, from the plot to the dialogue to the characters, it will most likely remain a teen fan favourite for many years to come.
